Monkeying Around

tlc162blog.jpg

I just love these colors together!   Thanks,  Lisa for posting your card on SCS using the inspiration from Kwernes blog I think I will be hooked on the color challenges every week now! 🙂 For the Technique lover’s challenge on SCS this week was Paper Tole:  You stamp your image several times and then cut out parts of the image and pop up the parts that you want to stand out.  Part of the challenge was NO FLOWERS!!  Ahhhhh  but I LOVE flowers!  Oh well, good thing I have this cute little monkey staring at me begging to be used.   The bottom layer of the cake is popped up and so it the Monkey’s head and hat.

Supplies: Stamps:  Full of life (occasions mini) and The Monkey is Stampendous.  CS:  Orchid Opulence, Rose Red, Pumpkin Pie, Whisper white, and Basic Black.  Accessories:  Cuttlebug embossing folder, Velvet flowers from Maya Road, Rhinestone brads, Star dust Stickles, ribbon, & WWC.  Card is 5 1/2 square.

Mojo Sketch Challenge

mojo30dahliablog.jpg

Once I saw the Mojo sketch challenge I knew it would be an easy one for me to do, this is the layout that I always tend to use for some reason.  When I was working on designing my swap cards a couple of weeks ago, every time I would make a flower, it would remind me of a lady with a fancy hat or with curlers in her hair so I had to finally make one.  I normally get all my ideas from other stampers either from their blogs or SCS but this I haven’t seen this yet so I am so happy I came up with an original idea for once 😉

Everything on the card is SU except for the 2″ circle for the face.   Supplies:  Stamps: Sincere Salutations.  CS:  Pumpkin pie, Taken with Teal, Whisper White, basic black, Purely Pomegranate, and Bali Breeze DSP.  Punches: Double Circle (for eyes), 1 3/8 Circle, Ticket corner, Marvy circle, and Word Window (for lips) I first punched through purely pomegrante then slightly moving the punch (using the negative piece) then punch again for the lips.  Accessories:  Paper piercer and Template, flower fusion flower, brads, and tempting turquoise grosgrain ribbon.

Circle Template for Journaling

I had to share this link.  I always see all the cute pages using cirles for journaling in the magazines and I always love the layouts but didn’t want to use my messy handwriting.  Creating keepsakes has templates on the website that you can download so we can use the templates for our pages!!

Two-for-one deal ;)

enjoywsc41blog.jpg

I rolled two combos into one, Beate’s sketch and SCS technique challenge from last week- Negative effect using the cuddlebug.   I used Purely Pomegranate ink on the embossing folder before running the Pretty in Pink CS through the Cuttlebug machine.  I think I could have done without the flowers along the side but those embossed circles were looking a little lonely to me.  LOL

I recieved my package of new stamps from the Free wheelin’ promotion this morning – I was so glad I waited to get the three sets I got- the FREE matching wheels are awesome!

Well,  I just checked Beate’s blog and she used the Nestabilities for her panel- too cool we had the same idea!  For those of you that don’t know,  Beate is such a talented stamper, I LOVE her work- she is a little like a celeb to me! 🙂

Supplies:  Stamps: Enjoy every moment.  CS: Purely Pomegranate, pretty in pink,  Chocolate Chip, and  Whisper White.  Accessories:  Rhinestone brads, soft subtle brads, cuttlebug embossing folder, Nestabilities, flower fusion flowers, and wide Chocolate Chip Grosgrain ribbon.

Measurements:  Large embossed panel:  2 3/4 X3 3/4.  Sentiment panel:  3 1/2 X 1 5/8  Matting:  3 5/8 X 1 3/4

Peek-A-Boo Birthday Treat

unfrogettablepeekaboblog.jpg

As you know from my previous post, my son is 6 Today!!!  His party is tomorrow so I made him this little treat for today so he can have something to open on his actual Birthday.  This is the first Peek-a-boo box I have made.  This box is so small, it measures 2×2- not enough room for embellishing so I want to try to make a bigger one next time.  I found these better instructions for next time using the word window punch for the tab.  It was a lot of fun making it and I can’t wait to try it again they sure are cute little boxes!

Info:  Stamps: Unfroggetable and Daisy wheel.  Cardstock: Groovy Guava, prints pack, Purely Pomegranate, and acetate for the window.  Accessories: 1 3/8 circle punch, white gel pen, markers.  Ink:  Wild wasabi, black stazon, real red, and more mustard.  Oh and M&M’s  Mmmmmmm! 🙂

Fabulously Ugly

fabulouslyuglyblog.jpg

I had this bright idea to try to use up some scraps so this is what I came up with.  It is not my favorite card but it is starting to grow on me, at first I thought it was so ugly it might just jump in the trash can.  I had this Apple cider piece of DSP on my desk as well as one layer of the flower and some scrap Chocolate ribbon.  The pattern on the paper reminded me of a quilt and so I scored on the lines with my scor-pal and pierced where the lines meet- I don’t know if you can tell in the picture or not but it gives a little extra texture to the card.  The flower was stamped on shimmery white a total of three times and cut out at different sizes to layer- then I added stickles to the ends to give it more sparkle.

Supplies:  Stamps: Fabulous Flowers. Cardstock: Apple cider DSP, shimmery white, and groovy guava.  Accessories:  Pearl stickers, Crystal stickles, and Chocolate wide grosgrain ribbon.

Soft Gray Whisper

stinkin-22159_blog.jpg

Color challenge for this week: Soft sky, basic gray, and whisper white.  I was having issues with this combo because it seems to wash out the soft sky but I had fun playing around until it was ok.  I am so happy I decided to keep this retired set, I just love this “little stinker”!!

Supplies:  Stamps: Stinkin’ Cute.  Accessories:  Gray tafetta ribbon and nestabilities.   Cardstock: PTI white, whisper white, basic gray, DD glitter on flower, and soft sky DSP.

Well I figured I already had the cardstock cut from the first card that I might as well make another one 😉

Stamps: Pretty Petals BG and Happy Harmony.  Accessories:  Velvet Blossoms flowers (Maya road), rhinestone brad, nestabilities, and white tafetta ribbon.

Happy Bee-day

beedaysc169_blog.jpg

This is the sketch challenge over at SCS today!  I thought it was going to be a hard one because the of the narrow strip for the image being only 1 1/2 inches wide and then I remembered this cute little guy I just got last week and he fit perfectly.  My son’s birthday is on Friday and he just loves it when I make him a card so this was the perfect sketch.  A good friend of mine told me whenever she hears me talking about a birthday she chuckles, because I am always having a birthday around here!! LOL  It is so true- 6 of us, so that equals at least every other month of birthdays and then you throw in friends and extended family.

Here are my measurents for the panels:

Blue polka dot panel: 2 5/8 x 3 1/2–for the matting I added 1/8th so 2 3/4 x 3 5/8

Red polka dot:1 1/4 x3 3/8

image: 1 1/2 x 3 7/8– matting 1 5/8 x 4

Card info:  Cardstock: Wild wasabi, Whisper white, Prints pack DSP (hostess level 1).   Stamp set is from Archiver’s, I think it is stampendous- cute little set, it has all the numbers so you can personalize it.  Accessories: Soft subtle brads, wwc: apricot appeal, real red, bashful blue, and Ballet Blue, aqua brush, dd glitter, and striped red grosgrain ribbon.

Scrap Mania Create-A-Page

grumpyblog.jpg

Here is the page kit we received at Scrap Mania on Friday.  Normally I just keep the paper and put it in my stash but I thought the layout would be perfect for these pics of Hanna.  She was going through such a GRUMPY stage- every picture I would take of her she would have this horrible grumpy look on her face.  These are the things I love to scrapbook about!  I know looking back at them will always bring a smile on my face and hopefully on her face as well!  I still need to add journaling but you get the idea 😉

Page info:  Paper is from Making memories Garden party collection.  Chipboard title is Stampin’ up on board Lots of Letters.  Swirl is misc chipboard I had in my drawer.  I colored the chipboard with acrylic paints- I love the texture it gives and it dries so fast!

Technique Challenge Monday

flapfold_blog.jpg

TLC161 Flap fold cards.  Don’t use just love when you get to do the challenge on the same day it is posted?!!   It doesn’t happen too often but the second I saw it I knew what I wanted to do!!  This card was so easy and fun to make!!!   I didn’t have any fancy snaps for the closure so I had to use the velcro that I had in my drawer.  I hate that you can see it when it is open but I don’t think the recipient will care too much. 🙂
